Grant Banham

I created Stock Gardens in July 2009 whilst studying Horticulture at Writtle College.  I had worked in sales and marketing for a number of years but I’d always had a keen eye for horticulture.

When the opportunity presented itself to start my own business I relished the opportunity and have never looked back since.   My passion is gardening and developing the business to provide a unique service.   I’m a specialist in pruning, topiary, hedges and planting.

I have set about my vision for a company that offers the whole spectrum of gardening services, from maintenance contracts to design and build.

Building a team of great talented individuals is the single most important aspect  to me and as a team we strive to deliver truly great results from the passion we share together.

Any spare time I have is taken up with my family, walks with Hudson, our Hungarian Vizsla, and the occasional run which helps keep me fit.  I’ll be doing another half marathon soon!

Debora Banham

I’m Debs, Grant’s wife and business partner, and I graduated from Writtle College in Garden Design and Landscape.

I assist with the maintenance arm of the business but I mainly design our soft and hard landscape plans and projects.  Other duties include keeping on top of office administration.

I love relaxing in our garden, which I designed last year, and spending as much time as possible with our two daughters.

I actually come from a finance project management background, which has been extremely useful for running the business.

I worked for many years as a design engineer and I’m also a skilled draftsman.   However, a couple of years ago I decided to put what I had learned into landscape and design.

I graduated in Landscape and Design with both Debs and Martin.  I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to landscaping and I often lead on these types of projects.

In my spare time I like to visit my house in France, which me and my family are renovating into a perfect summer retreat!

Having worked in construction and learned many tips from a tender age working on my granddad’s allotment, I changed careers by gaining my Diploma in Landscape and Design from Writtle College.

I have worked with Stock Gardens on many projects, from soft landscape to hard landscape, and I also help out with garden maintenance from time to time. I regularly team up with Gordon on large projects for the best mix of skills.

Most weeks you can also spot me on my bike getting out and about in the Essex countryside. I love cycling, even after a full day’s physical work!

I have worked for Stock Gardens for almost a year now and my knowledge and skills are improving all the time.  I currently work part-time as I am also studying a BTEC National Diploma at Southend College. However, I am looking to join the Stock Gardens team full-time in summer 2012 as an apprentice.   I can’t wait!

I will be attending day release at Writtle College to develop my horticultural and landscape knowledge even further.

I’m a new assistant to the team and I am really enjoying working for Stock Gardens.

I’m also studying a BTEC National Diploma at Southend College at present but I work for Stock Gardens at every given opportunity.

I may be looking to join the team full-time in summer 2012 as an apprentice.
